Photos: Cropping images to fit print sizes
Unfortunately, this comes as a rude shock to most people: your photo may not fit the paper you choose.
A photo that fits 4x6 paper perfectly cannot fit on 8x10 paper — which is more square — without cropping.
The good news is that we (through our printing service, smugmug) let you specify what part to crop (lose).
For example, this photo fits 4x6 prints but cannot fit an 8x10 without losing either the groom's head or feet. However, it will fit 8x12 paper perfectly because it's the same ratio of width to height as 4x6 paper.
Anyone who buys a print can specify cropping from their shopping cart.
Simply mouse over the square box in the lower right, click and drag to change the size of the cropping area. (JavaScript must be turned on in your browser.) Mouse over any other area inside the blue rectangle and click to move the cropping area.
Click update to finish. That's all there is to it.
